  2. Review sheets for the written Midterm have been posted on the course web site.
  3. Friendly Alert #2: Listening Quiz # 1 will be given on 5 March 2020, at the beginning of the usual class time. See PowerPoint slides for details.
  4. Continue reading Chapters 10, 11, 12, and even 13, all of which might be covered in the next class meetings (with an emphasis on musical form).
  5. Please note that we will continue to move forward, even though no materials after Chapter 9 will be on the Midterm or Listening quiz.

20 FEB 20 (Thur) - DAY 14

  4. Reminder: The first midterm will follow the completion of Chapter 9. The test will cover materials from chapters 4 through 9 (Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque). An exact test date will be announced at Thursday's class meeting.

  1. Information on the textbook (Craig Wright, Listening to Music, 8th ed.) is now posted on the course syllabus, and on the Day 3 PowerPoint slides. Remember, you have two options for the textbook (eBook or softback), and you do NOT need to puchase the music examples. (See next item.)
  2. A web page with music examples keyed to the textbook "Listening Guides" may be accessed from the course home page. Again, you do not need to purchase any music downloads or access to publisher pages. Listening assignments will be covered by my web pages.
  3. Lectures for the next few class meetings will continue without much reference to the textbook, but use the PowerPoint slides to stay on top of those materials.
  4. When you acquire your textbook, begin reading chapters 1-2-3, and relate what you read to what you have seen discussed in class.

  2. The basic web pages for MUL 2010H have been established (as of 4:00 pm on Thursday(!)
  3. Look at the entire MUL 2010H course web page, realizing that it is still "under construction." Remember that none of my review pages are currently established, i.e., some links wil be dead.
  4. Read through the Course Syllabus. Be certain that you understand all aspects of the syllabus, as the syllabus constitutes a type of contract between you and me.
  5. Note that PowerPoint slides from Days 1 and 2 are now available (via the links on the Course Web pages) for download and study.
  6. Information on the textbook and exact edition to be used will be announced next week.
  7. Lectures for the next 2-3 class meetings will continue without much reference to the textbook, so those without books should not fall behind. (Do download copies of the PowerPoint slides to stay on top of those other materials.)

  3. Look at the entire MUL 2010H course web page, realizing that it is still "under construction." Remember that none of my review pages are currently established, i.e., some links wil be dead. Most external web links should work, however.
