YouTube Concerts (Spring 2020)
NOTE: Because of the recent Corona Virus outbreak, all UCF SoPA concerts and recitals through the end of March 2020 have been cancelled. Similarly, almost every other live musical event anywhere in the Central Florida region (and elsewhere in the US) has also been postponed or cancelled. Nevertheless, you will be able to complete the concert attendance and report assignment by watching and reviewing any of the following selected YouTube video concerts. Please note that these videos have been chosen because most were live performances such as you might have chosen for the assignment. Please note the following about the items listed below:
- All performances listed below are acceptable for the first written assignment, i.e., all meet the basic requirements of content and length.
- All videos listed below are of live performances, and you should watch the video as well as listen, so that you might comment on aspects of the performances beyond the sound.
- Most videos listed below (above the double line) have some sort of concert program that indicates the composers and works being performed. Look in the note immediately below the video window, or be prepared to take down information directly from the video during the playing of the concert.
- All vocal music items have English subtitles, so that you will understand what is being sung. (Use the playback settings to activate.)
- You are encouraged to watch your chosen video as a full concert, i.e., at a single setting, as if you were present in the concert hall (as much as possible).
- You may view your chosen item (or any portion of it) as many times as you wish.
REMINDER: You are to complete your written report according to the posted instructions for the assignment, but because you are using a streaming video, you may refer to specific moments within the video by their timings (0:00), if you wish to discuss a particular moment or event. Remember, also, that you should identify the performers, composers, and work titles, just as if you had a program in your hand.
